Rob Blake sign with San Jose (1 yr, $5 million)

 Los Angeles Kings | Thursday 03 July 2008 - 19:38:29

Most of Kings nation is in shock from this recent transaction. Back in February, most of us hoped and believed Blakey would stick with the rebuilding plan, mentor the kids and maybe even retire a King and have his number retired. Now, for those of us hoping he would be that blue line mentor, the anger and frustration are already building towards that first Kings/Sharks battle in LA. Reports have surfaced that Blake was offered $4 million for next season but that hasn't been confirmed by Blake or Deano. Some clarification would be nice, someone's lying and Kings nation is bloodthirsty...

Lubo Traded!

 Los Angeles Kings | Sunday 29 June 2008 - 22:51:39
Author:  Keith
The Los Angeles Kings have traded Lubomir Visnovsky to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for center Jared Stoll and defenseman Matt Greene. Stoll is 6'1, 210 lbs and Greene is 6'3, 233lbs. The Kings got younger in this trade, something Deano has huge hard-on for but we traded Vote for Lubo who was an alternate captain who had a rough season (partially because of Crawford) but quarterbacked our powerplay. Good trade? We're not so sure. Analysis by Chris to follow...

Andrei Loktionov Profile (5th Round, 123rd Overall)

 Los Angeles Kings | Thursday 26 June 2008 - 13:20:42
Author:  Chris K
From NHL Central Scouting: "At the 2008 IIHF World Under-18 Championships in Kazan, Russia, he finished second on the Russian squad--behind only Nikita Filatov--in scoring with eight points in six games. He also tied for second on the team with 29 penalty minutes... saw his first action in the Russian Superleague in 2007-08, assisting on one goal in five games... the 5-11, 187 pounder was rated 15th among International skaters in Central Scouting's final rankings... projects as a scoring center but needs to get stronger in order to become a better NHL prospect."
From KingsCast: Alexander Frolov will be pleased with yet another Russian taken in this draft. Loktionov has got the puck handling skills, attacks the net and has what Dean Lombardi cherishes so much, great hockey sense. McKeen's Hockey Prospects describes him as "oozing with potential." We'll see...

From NHL Central Scouting: "Vjateslav is a talented and skilled defenseman who needs some time to develop. He is strong in the defensive zone and is able to make good decisions with the puck. He needs to get stronger and to improve on his first-step quickness."
From KingsCast: Other words used to describe him are nasty, feisty and a little cheap sometimes. I like this guy already...
